Zimmer® MIS Anterior Supine Hip Procedure

The Zimmer MIS Anterior Supine surgical approach uses the interval between the sartorius/rectus femoris and the tensor fascia latae muscles (sometimes referred to as the Smith-Peterson interval).   The patient is in the supine position.  The Zimmer MIS Anterior Supine Hip Procedure does not require the use of an orthopaedic fracture table, however, participants may be given the option to use a fracture table at most courses.  Instrumentation and implants will include a choice of one of the following:  Zimmer® M/L Taper Hip Prosthesis, Zimmer® M/L Taper with Kinectiv® technology, or Fitmore® Hip Stem; used in conjunction with either the Trabecular Metal™ Modular Acetabular Cup or Trilogy® Fiber Metal Acetabular Cup.

Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:

  • demonstrate the MIS Anterior Supine Hip procedure with or without a fracture table
  • discuss issues that may result while performing the procedure
  • recognize anatomical landmarks and interval used for the MIS Anterior Supine Hip Procedure and define when the procedure is most effective
