Zimmer MMC™ Cup

Introducing the Zimmer MMC Cup with Metasul® LDH ® Large Diameter Heads! A Familiar Hemispherical Design with Metasul Technology

For treating your active patients*, the Zimmer MMC Cup is a familiar hemispherical design with unique Metasul metal-on metal articulation.

With the Zimmer MMC Cup launch, Zimmer expands its hip portfolio with an option for younger patients. The cup is a familiar hemispherical design which surgeons are used to implanting as many hemispherical designs are currently utilized today. The Zimmer MMC Cup utilizes Metasul Technology which has been utilized since 1988.

Option for Younger Patients

Increased dislocation height

  • Paired with the Metasul LDH Large Diameter Head
  • Large diameter head articulation offers increased jump distance compared to smaller diameter heads.

Range of motion

  • Paired with the Metasul LDH Large Diameter Head which allows for a larger range of motion without impingement than smaller diameter heads with an identically placed cup and stem.
  • Has an articulation surface which subtends an angle of 165° with a full-hemispherical backside.

Full Hemispherical Design

Familiar Technique

  • As many cups available today are a full hemispherical design, surgeons are familiar with implanting these cups and visual cues associated with hemispherical designs.
  • A full hemispherical design has the potential for increased bone contact versus a sub-hemisphere design.

Primary Stability

  • Three sets of paired anti-rotational fins are equally distributed around the cup to provide additional primary stability.
  • To maximize the bone conduct surface, the area between the fins is also coated with titanium vacuum plasma spray (Ti-VPS).

Metasul Articulation

Forged on Forged Design

  • Surface roughness is greatly reduced, which provides for a smoother articulation in comparison to cast chromium-cobalt alloys

Clinical Heritage

  • Metasul bearings first implanted in 1988.
  • More than 460,000 Metasul Acetabular components implanted worldwide since the introduction1
